liquid photographic emulsion
hand-applied onto various print surfaces

The 6 images to the right were contact printed in the darkroom to various surfaces, after treating the surface with a silver liquid emulsion.

A digitally-generated paper negative of the image is first created in a photo editor, and then is applied directly to the prepared surface as part of the contact printing process. The exposed surface is processed with standard geletan silver darkroom chemistry.

The process is delicate, and results aren't always predictable. However, there is joyful satisfaction of seeing the unique qualities of texture, or color, or light opacity of the prepared surface through the image!
